I dunno, why make it such a big deal? Both have their uses for trim, and it's not like one is always wrong. Seems like a weird hill to die on!

Saw my buddy waste a whole day picking trim because he wouldn't listen to @the_nina.

Used wood filler on my last project and it held up way better than caulk. Didn't crack when the house settled a bit. Worked for me lol.
