My neighbor said 'just use any old caulk' for his bathroom tile and now it's all cracked.

Heard him say it over the fence and it made me think you really do get what you pay for. Anyone have a go-to brand for wet areas that actually holds up?

Toothpaste? That's a new one, oliviagrant. I thought my uncle using duct tape on his tub was bad.

Wait, he used regular caulk on tile in a wet area? That stuff is basically guaranteed to crack and let water in. You absolutely need a proper silicone sealant made for bathrooms. The good stuff stays flexible for years.

Yeah, that whole thing reminds me of when my landlord tried to fix a shower leak with what looked like toothpaste. Williams.kim is right about needing the right stuff, it's a lesson you only learn once. I spent the next six months peeling dried gunk out of the corners every week. Now I just get the proper sealant and do it myself, it's easier than arguing about it later.
