My deck board snapped right in the middle of a cut

I was using a circular saw on a pressure-treated 2x6 in my backyard last weekend. The blade bound and kicked the piece back, cracking it clean through. I ended up having to recut both halves and use a joist hanger to splice it back together over a beam. Anyone have a better fix for when a board breaks like that?

Heard a joist hanger is the right fix for that.

Wait, they didn't use a hanger at all? That's just asking for trouble down the line. I've seen that cause a real sag.

Seen that happen, @cooper.linda's right about the hanger.
