My $18 caulk gun finally beat the fancy one I've used for 7 years

I've been doing trim work and baseboards for a long time, always with the same high-end caulk gun that cost me $40 back in 2017. Last weekend in Portland I picked up a cheap dripless model from the hardware store just to have a spare. Tried it on a bathroom corner seam and the rod retract action actually stopped the oozing better than the old one ever did. The grip is lighter too, so my hand didn't cramp after a full afternoon of crown molding in the hallway. Anybody else found a budget tool that beat their trusted expensive one for a specific job?

Seven years of caulking and one cheap gun flips you? Sounds like a bad habit.
