Just saw my neighbor's deck after a year of using that 'one coat' stain... the difference is wild.

Oh man, that hits close to home. I tried that stuff on my own fence last spring and it looks like a sad, peeling zebra now. I guess the "one" in "one coat" must mean one year before you have to do it again.

Learned my lesson with that stuff. Switched to a solid color stain and did two thin coats last time. It's held up way better through the winter.
