I finally stopped fighting my old paint sprayer and rented a commercial one

So my garage door project has been dragging for like 3 weekends. I kept trying to use my little $80 handheld sprayer for the paneled door and it was spitting, clogging, and taking forever. I figured I could make it work, you know, just patience. After 6 hours of coats and cleanups I was still seeing runs and bare spots. My neighbor walked over and said "why are you doing this to yourself" and handed me a card for a rental place. I rented a Graco airless for $65 a day and finished the whole door in 45 minutes, looked better than any job I've done with a brush. Honestly the cost of renting + buying 2 more gallons to make up for waste still beat the time I lost. Has anyone else hit that point where they finally admitted their cheap setup was the real bottleneck, not their skill?

Man, ain't that the truth lol. I did the same thing with a cheap orbital sander once, fought it for a whole weekend, then rented a decent one and felt like an idiot for not doing it sooner. Honestly, that moment when you realize it's the tool, not your hands, is both frustrating and kinda freeing. Good on you for finally calling it.
