Finally stopped fighting with painter's tape and switched to liquid mask
I used to spend an hour taping off window trim for every room, and it always bled through anyway. Last month I grabbed a $12 bottle of liquid mask from the orange store and just brushed it on. No peeling tape, no fuzzy edges, just peel off a rubbery layer when the paint is dry. Anyone else find this stuff works better for detailed trim work?

Hold up, I gotta disagree a bit. Liquid mask is fine for some stuff but for window trim I actually get better results with the green frog tape and a good seal. You gotta press the edge down with a putty knife or something, then you don't get bleed. Plus half the time I peel the liquid stuff off and it leaves behind a sticky residue or tears into little bits that are a pain to pick out from corners.

Wait, is window trim really that big of a deal though? Like, are we painting a show car or just trying to not get paint on the glass of a daily driver? I've used both methods and sometimes it feels like people treat it like brain surgery when really a little mess up is just gonna be a quick scrape with a razor blade. The frog tape trick works fine if you're patient, but I've also had the green stuff lift up on me if the window's even a little damp or dusty.
