Bought a $40 'universal' tile cutter for a small bathroom floor. It chipped every single edge and I had to replace $150 worth of tile.

Feel your pain, that's the worst. I had a cheap cutter ruin a whole box of subway tile once. The blade wobble on those things is just brutal for anything but a straight cut in the middle of a tile.
