Rant: Bought a $350 portable monitor that literally melted in Bali humidity

I was in Canggu thinking I'd be working beachside like a pro. Set up my little desk, AC cranked, but the air was still thick. After 3 days the screen started getting these weird wavy lines, then a corner started peeling. Emailed the company and they said 'humidity voided warranty'. $350 down the drain. Anyone else lost gear to tropical weather?

Man that sucks so bad. It's wild how companies just slap "humidity voided warranty" on stuff like it's normal. It's part of a bigger pattern where products are made for perfect office conditions but real life isn't that tidy. You can't control the air everywhere, especially in a place like Bali. It's like they design things for a lab and then charge you full price for real world use. Honestly feels like a way for them to dodge responsibility when stuff breaks from normal weather. Hope you can get a refund somehow.

Got a silica gel pack from an old shoe box and taped it to the back of my laptop when I was in Thailand. Worked way better than I expected, kept the screen clear for months after. Also started keeping my monitor in a ziploc bag with a couple of those packs when I wasn't using it, especially overnight. That combo saved my gear through two rainy seasons in Southeast Asia.

Used to think people were being dramatic about humidity but this whole thread changed my mind completely.
