My portable monitor died mid flight and I had no backup

Was flying from Bangkok to Chiang Mai last Tuesday, got comfortable, pulled out my USB-C monitor to finish a client proposal. Screen flickered twice and then went completely black. Tried plugging it into my tablet and my phone, nothing worked. Ended up handwriting the whole thing on paper like some kind of caveman and retyping it at a cafe after landing. Anyone else rely way too hard on a single piece of gear?

Retyping it at a cafe after landing" - man that hits hard. I've been there with a broken laptop screen and had to do the same thing on a train once. It's crazy how one piece of gear failing can throw your whole workflow into a tailspin. I bet you were second guessing every fix you tried before giving up and accepting the paper life. The real kicker is how much time it adds when you have to recreate digital work from handwritten notes. Makes you wonder why we don't keep a cheap backup screen in our bags for situations exactly like this.

Ha! Bro same thing happened to me but with a power bank. I was on a 14 hour flight to Istanbul and my power bank just stopped working after like 30 minutes. Had my tablet and phone dying and I was so paranoid I'd lose all my movies and stuff. Ended up just staring at the seatback map for 6 hours watching the little plane icon move across the ocean. It's wild how dependent we get on one gadget working perfectly. I swear I have three chargers in my bag now after that mess but never thought about a backup monitor. Your caveman comment killed me though because I literally did the same thing with a notebook on that flight taking notes like it was 1995.
