My Lisbon apartment rental had a hidden fee that cost me $500

I booked a place for a month through a site I hadn't used before. The listing said 'all utilities included' in the price. After I moved in, the host sent a separate invoice for a 'mandatory building management fee' that wasn't in the listing. It was $500 and they said I had to pay or leave. I paid it to avoid the hassle of finding a new spot last minute. Has anyone else run into these surprise fees with short-term rentals?

Ugh, that's basically a bait-and-switch, which should be illegal.

Laws are more like suggestions to them... fines are just the cost of doing business.
