My laptop screen in Chiang Mai went from fine to a bug hotel in 48 hours
Left my window open for two nights at a guesthouse near the Nimman area (you know, for the 'fresh air'). Came back to find about 15 tiny ants marching across my screen, and a few had actually crawled inside the bezel. I guess the heat from the screen plus some crumbs I didn't even see made it a target. Anyone else have their gear become part of the local ecosystem?

Honestly that sounds pretty normal for Nimman. Ants find electronics everywhere here, it's not a big deal. Just wipe it down and they'll move on.

So you're saying @adamgreen that this is just a normal part of living here? What happens if they don't just move on and actually get inside something like a power supply? I've seen them cause real shorts before, it's not just a cleaning thing. That seems like a bigger problem than just wiping a surface.

Wait, has anyone tried using a bit of cinnamon powder around the electronics? Ants really hate it and it's safe for the gear. I had a whole line of them going into my router and a sprinkle along their path stopped it for weeks. It's not just about wiping, you gotta break their trail.
