Lost my Wi-Fi signal in a coffee shop in Barcelona and almost lost a client
I was working out of this cafe in the Gothic Quarter last month and my hotspot just died right in the middle of a Zoom call with a client in New York. Turns out I was sitting in a dead zone behind a giant stone wall. I grabbed my bag and sprinted to a coworking space 3 blocks away, got there in 10 minutes, and logged back in. Client was cool about it but now I always scout a backup spot before I start work. How do you guys handle internet backups when you're bouncing between cities?

Honestly, did you always just roll with whatever WiFi was around too? I used to think cafes were solid til my connection dropped right when I needed it most, now I never travel without a backup plan.

My go-to is an unlocked phone with two eSIMs, one for data and one as a backup on a different carrier. That saved me in Lisbon when the cafe WiFi went down and I just switched to the backup line. @lane.eric you're right that cafes are sketchy, I've had good luck with the coworking app desks near me app for finding backup spots in weird cities. Also keep a 10-foot ethernet cable in my bag just in case some place has a port. That hotspot situation in Barcelona sounds rough, but at least you had a plan B in mind.
