Had a guy at a coworking space in Medellin tell me my "digital nomad life" wasn't real because I had a 9-5 schedule.

He said true nomads work when they want and I was just a desk jockey with a passport, which felt pretty rude considering I still manage three kids back home. Has anyone else run into these weird gatekeeping types about what counts as "real" nomadic life?

Is this really worth getting upset over? Some people just like to act like they invented the lifestyle and everyone else is doing it wrong. I'm with @holly_walker76 on this one, the guy was way too focused on your schedule for someone who doesn't even know you. Sounds like he was projecting his own insecurities about what he's doing. At the end of the day, you're still working remotely in another country and supporting your kids, which is more real than whatever rules he made up.

Sounds like he's way too invested in your schedule for someone who doesn't even know you.

Wow, sounds like he's the CEO of gatekeeping.
