Had a chat with a guy in a co-working space in Chiang Mai that shifted my whole view on remote work

I was grinding away on my laptop at Punspace in Chiang Mai last month, and this older guy named Dave just sat down next to me and asked what I did. He said he'd been a digital nomad for 12 years but never made more than $30k a year, and he was totally fine with that. It hit me that I've been obsessing over scaling up and making six figures when maybe just enjoying the ride is the real win. Has anyone else had a random conversation completely change how you think about this lifestyle?

But was Dave actually happy, or just settling?

Right, but here's the thing about settling - sometimes people confuse contentment with complacency. Dave probably figured out what he actually needed instead of chasing some fantasy of what happiness was supposed to look like. Maybe that's the real win, not the grand romantic gesture but just not being miserable every single day.
