Got stuck in Chiang Mai for a month because I trusted a coworking space's wifi promise

Last month, I signed up for a spot that swore they had fiber for video calls. My first client call dropped four times in an hour. Turns out their 'business grade' line was shared with the whole building. I had to extend my visa and ended up working from a cafe that charged $3 an hour for a real connection. Has anyone else had a work deadline blown because a place flat out lied about their internet?

My last apartment in Lisbon advertised high speed internet, but the router was from 2008. It's this quiet lie that's everywhere now. They know we need it for work, so they just say the words without having the thing. You end up paying a premium for a basic need they don't actually provide.

Heard about a friend who got fiber but the box was still on dial-up.
