Estonia's digital ID saved me 4 hours at a border crossing

I was in Tallinn last month and my physical SIM died, but the e-resident digital ID let me verify my identity for a bus ticket and hotel check-in through the app. Turns out the system also handles tax declarations and bank stuff, all in one place, which is way more than I expected from a government portal. Has anyone else used a country's digital identity system while bouncing between countries, and did it actually hold up at borders or just for local services?

Sure, that's a single point of failure waiting to happen. One hacked database and your whole life, bank and travel history is gone. Cool trick, but I'd rather carry my passport and sort it out old school.
