A coworking space manager told me my setup was "giving off chaos vibes" and I'm still mad they were right

I was working out of a coworking space in Medellin last month with my laptop balanced on a pile of notebooks and cables everywhere. One of the managers pulled me aside after a few days and said it was making other people nervous to sit near me... like I was gonna knock something over. I finally bought a proper stand for my laptop and a little cable organizer, and honestly my focus has been way better since. Has anyone else had someone call them out on their workspace habits in a way that actually helped?

Yeah it's funny how little things like that can really mess with your head without you even noticing. I feel like that happens all the time in life, not just with workspaces - someone points out something small and suddenly you see the whole picture different.

My desk at home was basically a disaster zone for like two years... papers everywhere, three different coffee mugs, and my laptop charger wrapped around my leg half the time. I didn't realize how bad it was until my roommate took a picture of my setup from the doorway and showed me. She didn't even say anything mean, just handed me the phone and said "look at this." Seeing it from someone else's eyes made me notice all the little things I was tripping over or ignoring. I cleared everything off, got a simple monitor riser, and now I don't waste five minutes every morning searching for stuff. Something about having a clean space just makes the work feel less heavy, you know?
