Unpopular opinion: My diesel's long warm-up routine was just making things worse

I always let my engine run for like 15 mins before driving, thinking it helped the turbo. Then I saw how much soot it pumped out and realized it's totally unnecessary with newer models. Do y'all have tips for greener start-up habits without killing performance?

Man, that's such a common trap. We hold onto these old rules long after the reason for them is gone, right? I see it with all kinds of gear, not just trucks. People stick to rituals because "that's how it's always been done," wasting time and fuel. Sometimes you just gotta check if the manual changed.

Ever catch yourself doing something just out of habit even though it doesn't make sense anymore? I still delete old text threads to save phone space, like that ever helped with anything. Or I'll let my laptop battery die all the way before plugging it in, even though modern batteries don't need that. It's like my brain is stuck in 2005. I guess we all have these little rituals that lost their purpose but we can't let go.
