Third time I've seen someone use a torque wrench to tighten lug nuts with an impact gun first
Watched a guy at the shop yesterday crank them down with an impact, then check with a torque wrench and call it good. That wrench is for final torque only, not a verification tool after you've already over-tightened. Anyone else run into this and have to explain why it messes up clutch accuracy?

Yeah man I had to deal with this exact thing with my buddy. Told him he's basically stripping the accuracy out of the wrench by torquing on top of already tight nuts. Showed him on a test bolt - the click came way late cause the clutch was already fighting the extra force. Told him to just use the torque wrench from scratch and he finally got it right.

Clutch was already fighting the extra force" yeah that's not quite how the mechanism works, it's more about the spring already being compressed.
