Swapped from a standard 10-micron fuel filter to a 2-micron on a 6.7 Powerstroke
The injector knock was gone in about 50 miles of driving, just from that cleaner fuel flow. I pulled the old filter after a week and the media was way darker than I expected. Anyone else seen such a quick fix from just stepping down the filter size?

Honestly, it's wild how often the fix is just doing the basic thing a little bit better. Like using a better air filter in your house and your AC stops working so hard, or a finer screen on a gutter keeping leaves out of the drain pipe. That filter was probably letting through just enough tiny junk to mess with the spray pattern. Makes you wonder what else we're all putting up with that a slightly better part would solve.

Did you change anything else at the same time or just the filter alone?

So you're saying all that noise was just some specks in the fuel? That seems like a pretty small thing to cause such a big problem. I get what adams.spencer is saying about better parts, but is a diesel really that delicate?
