Rant: That aftermarket injector swap that grenaded my #6 cylinder

Put a set of cheap injectors in a Freightliner last Wednesday to save the customer some cash. By Friday afternoon #6 piston had a hole in it and oil was pissing out the dipstick tube. Anyone else swear off anything that isn't OEM or Bosch reman after a blowup like this?

#6 always has it out for us, right @ray_miller41? Guess we learned the hard way (and the expensive way).

Pull the oil filter and cut it open before you do anything else, that'll tell you if there's bearing material everywhere too. I've seen cheap injectors crack the tip and wash out a cylinder wall faster than you'd think possible. Always spend the extra on known good fuel parts, it's way cheaper than a short block and labor.

#6 is usually the one that lets go first on those engines. Pretty sure that oil coming out the dipstick means you blew the piston clean through the side of the block too.
