Old timer in Bakersfield taught me a fuel return line trick

Was helping this retired guy swap an injector pump on a 5.9 Cummins a few years back. He stopped me before I hooked the return line back up and said 'blow through it first, kid.' Sure enough, there was a chunk of debris lodged in the fitting. Would have caused a no-start or a hard start after the repair. Anyone else had a simple check like that save you a ton of headache?

Blowing out lines first is just smart practice.

Read a gear review that said the same thing. @margaret_gonzalez25 knows what's up.

Funny you mention that. A buddy of mine learned this lesson the hard way on an old Ford 6.9 after he put a new lift pump on and it still wouldn't prime. Spent two hours cussing before he finally blew the line out and found a chunk of rust. We all just assume new parts mean clean lines, but that's almost never true on a truck that's seen any real miles.
