I think a lot of guys are wrong about using a 3/4 inch impact for everything on a rig.
I mean, I swapped to a 1 inch drive for suspension and frame bolts after a job on a Kenworth T880 where I rounded off a kingpin nut. The extra torque and better socket engagement just makes a difference you can feel. Anyone else move away from the smaller guns for the big stuff?

My old foreman at the Mack shop in Allentown swore by the one inch for anything over 1.5 inch bolt heads. He said the anvil design just handles the shock better. I watched him zip off frozen U-bolts that would have made my 3/4 gun scream. It's not just about raw torque, it's about the tool not flexing under load. Once you feel that solid breakaway on a big fastener, it's hard to go back.

But sometimes you just need the smaller gun to fit in tight spots...

Ever notice how the right tool for the job just makes everything smoother, like using a real screwdriver instead of a butter knife? It's that same feeling of things just working right.
