Watched the alternate ending to 'The Mist' and it wrecked me more than the original
I finally found that alternate ending on YouTube last night after someone mentioned it in a comment thread. The one where Thomas Jane's character doesn't shoot everyone because the military shows up right after. Honestly I sat there for like 10 minutes after just staring at my screen. The original ending always felt like a gut punch but this one hit different because it showed how close they were to surviving. Kinda made me wonder if directors sometimes make endings too harsh on purpose just to leave a mark. Has anyone else seen a deleted scene that changed how you felt about the whole movie?

Actually, I gotta say your description of the alternate ending is a little off from what I remember seeing. I think you might be mixing it up with a fan edit or something. In the real alternate ending, Thomas Jane's character doesn't shoot his son or the others because the military shows up right after, but the version I saw has him just walking out of the car alone, not shooting anyone at all. The point is still the same though, that timing is brutal. It's crazy how one small change can mess with your head for days after watching.
