Was skeptical about that alternate ending for The Mist. Now I get it.
Always thought the theatrical ending was the only way. Then I caught the black and white version on the Blu-ray last week. The alternate ending where everyone lives? Way too clean. Leaves no impact. The real ending hurts because it makes you think. Did anyone else watch the deleted scenes and actually prefer the darker cut?

Man, I feel you on that. The theatrical ending is brutal but it sticks with you for days. I watched it for the first time with a friend and we just sat there in silence after. The black and white version made the fog feel even more hopeless, like the world was already gray before anything bad happened. That alternate ending where they all survive would've ruined the whole point for me. It's supposed to leave you feeling raw and lost, not relieved.
