Hit 50 deleted scenes from one movie on YouTube and half were fake
I was looking through deleted scenes from the 1999 movie "The Mummy" and found a channel claiming to have 50 clips. Turned out about 25 of them were from other movies or fan edits. Do you count those as real deleted scenes or just clickbait? I lean toward clickbait but I know some people don't mind as long as the vibe fits.

Oh wait, did you check if any of those fake clips were from the Brendan Fraser George of the Jungle movie? I swear I saw a scene from that spliced into a "deleted scene" compilation for The Mummy once. People get REAL creative with their editing. I spent an hour once watching "deleted scenes" from the first Pirates of the Caribbean and found one that was just a blooper from the fourth movie with different lighting. That's not a deleted scene, that's a FAN EDIT with extra steps. I get why folks do it, but 25 out of 50 being fakes? That's just lazy clickbait, not even good hoax material.

I get why folks do it" - yeah I see what you mean about the effort, but honestly I think the fakes make the whole thing more fun for me. Like sure it's annoying when you're hunting for actual deleted scenes, but finding those weird fan edits is its own kind of treasure hunt. I watched a "deleted scene" for The Phantom Menace once that turned out to be a kid's birthday party filmed on a camcorder with some Star Wars music over it. That's way more entertaining than an actual deleted scene could ever be. Plus the channels that post them don't really care about being accurate, they just want that sweet sweet clickbait money. I say lean into the chaos and treat it like a game of spot the fake.
