The delete-happy mod who took down a 500-comment thread for one wrong word
I was part of a long-running debate on a gardening forum about using neem oil on squash bugs, and someone posted a screenshot of the whole thread disappearing after a mod yanked it for a single rule violation. The deleted post had 500 comments with solid tips from people across 3 states, and now it is just gone with no backup. Has anyone else saved a thread before a mod trashed it, and what do you do with those archives?

Oh wow, 500 comments and poof gone? I would lose my mind if that happened to me, especially if it was full of solid tips from people who actually knew what they were talking about. I've never saved a whole thread but I do copy paste bits into a notes app when I see good info, but that sounds like a straight up nightmare for everyone who contributed.

Copied the whole thread into a text file once after I saw a mod going on a power trip in a different sub. Saved my ass when the OP deleted their account a week later. Also use a browser extension that backs up entire Reddit threads as PDFs, super handy for tutorials or recipe threads. If you're on mobile, screenshotting is tedious but worth it for threads you know will get nuked.
