The $60 VHS tape that outlasted my streaming subscription

Back in 2019 I dropped 60 bucks on an old VHS copy of a local news special from 1987, the whole town flooded and the tape had interviews with my grandpa. My streaming service removed that same footage last winter, and the tape still plays fine on the dusty player in my garage. I only bought it because a neighbor was clearing out her attic and I felt bad, turns out it's the only record of half the stories they used to tell. Has anyone else grabbed something weird and cheap that ended up preserving a piece of their family history?
