That Reddit critique about my recap style flipped everything

Last month I posted a viral thread recap here and someone commented 'you bury the punchline under 10 paragraphs.' Harsh but fair. I went back and cut my posts from 800 words to 250 max. Engagement tripled in two weeks. But now I'm second guessing if I lost the depth people liked. The feedback felt right in the moment. Is a tight summary always better, or does context matter more? Curious how the rest of you handle critique that changes your whole format.

I used to swear by longform recaps, thought people wanted every detail. Then I tried trimming one down just to see, and yeah, it performed way better. Still feels a bit thin sometimes, but the numbers don't lie. Context helps, but most folks just want the meat quick.
