Caught a viral post deleting itself in real time, still weirded out
Was scrolling r/oddlysatisfying last Friday and this timelapse of paint drying got 40k upvotes in an hour, then the OP nuked their account right as I hit reply. I screenshot the thread at 12:47pm, and by 12:52pm it was gone like it never existed. Anyone else save stuff the second it blows up, or you just let it vanish?

My buddy Dave actually had this happen with a gaming clip a few months back. He grabbed the download link at exactly 1,004 upvotes because he wanted to show his brother, and then the whole post vanished by the time he hit send on the text. He still has the file saved on his phone but the thumbnail shows a broken link now, which is somehow creepier than just losing it. I honestly think those deletion scripts are faster than any of us realize, like the site is doing us a favor by cleaning up after itself.
