Why does everyone crowd the basket full? Made this mistake again at 9pm
Overloaded the basket with wet batter and got a grease volcano that coated my whole kitchen counter in oil, took 40 minutes to scrub down. Has anyone else learned the hard way that half full is the only way to go, or am I the only one who keeps doing this?

A grease volcano that coated your whole counter? That's rough, but 40 minutes of scrubbing actually sounds lucky. I did the same thing a few years back and the oil splattered up onto the ceiling and the backs of the cabinets. Took me a whole weekend to get the smell out. The worst part was my smoke alarm going off for like 20 minutes while I stood there covered in grease.
