My brand new thermometer exploded into the fryer at my sister's cookout
So I stopped by my sister's place in Raleigh last Saturday for her backyard cookout, and she decided to try making homemade churros in her little countertop deep fryer. Everything was going fine until she stuck that cheap glass thermometer in the oil and it just shattered, sending glass and mercury everywhere. We had to toss out a whole batch of batter and the oil, plus scrub down her deck for an hour. Has anyone else had a thermometer fail on them mid fry like that?
