I shelled out $40 for a 'pro' thermometer, my oil temp is still a lie
Picked up that fancy wireless probe last month after my chicken kept coming out raw in the middle. Figured the cost would beat another grease fire cleanup, but the thing reads 25 degrees off from my old manual thermometer. I tested it three times in boiling water and it just drifts around. Guess I'm back to eyeballing it and hoping for the best til I save up for a good one. Anyone else got a gadget that made their fry game worse instead of better?

Three months ago I would have sworn my $200 instant read was gospel, but then I watched it disagree with itself by 8 degrees on the same pot of oil. Turns out the fancy probe was just the expensive liar in the room. Now I trust the cheap analog one that's been banged up in my drawer for years, and my fried chicken actually cooks through.
