I finally compared paper towels vs newspaper for drying fried chicken

Been using paper towels to dry my chicken before frying for years. Always got soggy paper bits stuck to the skin. Last week I ran out of paper towels and grabbed yesterday's newspaper instead. Laid the chicken pieces on there for about 10 minutes before dropping them in the oil at 350. The crust came out way crispier and no little white paper fibers everywhere. Newspaper doesn't shred apart when it gets wet like paper towels do. I did get some ink transfer on my cutting board but a quick wipe fixed it. Anyone else try weird alternatives to paper towels for drying?
