Dropped a whole bag of frozen fries into hot oil and it looked like a volcano

I was making fries for game night and dumped a full 2 pound bag of frozen fries straight into the deep fryer at 375 degrees. The oil boiled over so fast it hit the burner and sent a column of fire up to the ceiling. Has anyone else had a frozen food explosion that made you question your life choices?

You ever notice how one small mistake can turn a simple task into a total disaster? I did the same thing with tater tots last Super Bowl and ended up with oil stains on my ceiling that are still there three years later. It's like the universe's way of reminding you that shortcuts almost always backfire, especially when heat and frozen stuff are involved. What's the worst kitchen fire you've had to deal with?

Yeah I used to think the same way as the_charlie honestly. Like it's just food it's not that deep. But then I had a grease fire from some stupid chicken wings I tried to fry while half asleep and the smoke alarm went off and my cat freaked out and scratched up my arm. Three months later I still find little soot marks on the ceiling sometimes. Kinda made me look at it different you know?

Why do people always treat kitchen mistakes like some kind of life lesson? I dropped frozen fries in hot oil because I was half paying attention, not because the universe was teaching me a deep truth. The worst kitchen fire I had was just a greasy mess on the stove, and I cleaned it up in ten minutes.
