Warning: My friend's kid almost got scammed by a fake game download link
He clicked a 'free Fortnite skins' ad on a video site and it tried to install a keylogger. It's a solid reminder to check where a link really goes before clicking, even for something that seems harmless. Anyone have tips for teaching kids to spot these traps?

I read that "making it a game to spot the fakes" works well because it feels less like a lecture.

Yeah that's scary. How old is the kid? I wonder if showing them a real example would help, like pulling up a sketchy ad and walking through the red flags. Things like weird URLs, bad spelling, or promises that are way too good to be true. Do you think they'd get it if you made it a game to spot the fakes?

Honestly, my cousin fell for the exact same thing last month. Making it a game to spot the fakes is a solid idea.
