Two-factor codes by text feel like a weak link in 2025

I spent last week helping a relative whose SIM got swapped and it took 4 days to get their bank access back. Everyone pushes SMS 2FA like it's fine, but I've seen too many carriers hand over a number with just a phone call. Has anyone else moved entirely to app-based codes and found it worth the hassle?

Did your relative lose money in that SIM swap? I ditched SMS codes after my own nightmare last year, app-only now.
