TIL my bank's fraud text was real and I almost cussed out a legit alert
Got a text last Tuesday saying there was a $412 charge at a gas station in Tulsa and I laughed because I was at work in Ohio all day. I figured it was a phishing link so I almost tapped the little report junk button, but something made me call the number on the back of my card instead. Turns out it was real, someone cloned my card at a drive thru two weeks earlier and the fraud team caught the weird gas station buy in under an hour. Ngl I felt like a jerk for assuming it was fake, but now I'm second guessing every text I get. How do you all tell a real bank alert from a scam one without calling every single time?
