Showerthought: I read that most home routers have a default admin password that's never changed
I was looking at a report from a security company last week. It said over 80% of home network attacks start with the router's default login. I checked mine and sure enough, it was still 'admin' and 'password'. That's a huge open door for anyone nearby. I changed it right away to something long and random. Has anyone else actually gone in and updated their router settings recently?

Changed mine years ago after a neighbor got hacked. It's basic security, like locking your front door. People just don't think about it because the router is out of sight. That report is scary but not surprising. Makes you wonder what else is still on the default settings.

Did you actually dig into the other settings while you were in there, or just change the password and close it? I found out my router was broadcasting a separate guest network I never set up, and some remote management thing was turned on by default. Lots of weird stuff hiding in those menus that could be just as bad as a weak password.
