Shoutout to the guy who got phished at a truck stop WiFi in Wyoming
I was fueling up at a Love's in Rawlins and watched a driver log into his banking on the unsecured guest network. Three days later his account was drained for $2,400. Do you think free WiFi is worth the risk or are people just too careless with their logins?

I've seen this exact thing happen to a driver in Cheyenne. Lost $1,800 because he used a truck stop WiFi to pay his credit card bill. Absolute nightmare. Free WiFi is not worth the risk for anything with your money or personal info. Just use your phone as a hotspot. Most plans let you do it now. Or download a VPN. I use one called ProtonVPN it's free and works fine for basic stuff. People get too comfortable thinking it won't happen to them.

Ngl, that Cheyenne driver basically paid $1,800 for a lesson in "don't be dumb with free internet." Honestly, at that point you might as well just hand your wallet to the guy in the hoodie lurking by the dumpster. Tbh, truck stop WiFi is about as safe as eating gas station sushi - you might get lucky once or twice, but eventually you're gonna pay for it. ProtonVPN's solid for free, but even that's not magic if people are using sketchy networks to log into their bank. Just use your phone hotspot, it's literally 2024.
