Shoutout to the guy at the coffee shop who warned me about free public wifi
Was grabbing a latte downtown last week and this older guy sitting next to me saw me logging into the shop's wifi. He just leans over and says "you know that network is wide open right?" Didn't think much of it until I got home and checked my phone. There was a sketchy login page that looked legit but had some weird domain. Has anyone else run into fake wifi portals at local cafes?

Huh, @miam75's right but the real trick is turning off auto-connect to any network.

Oh man I learned that lesson the HARD way when I tried to log into "Free Airport WiFi_4" and accidentally ended up watching someone else's vacation photos for 20 minutes. Still not sure who won in that trade.
