PSA: I keep seeing people skip the 'update later' button on their phone
Last week, my neighbor in Sacramento asked me to look at her phone because it was acting slow. I checked and she had over 30 app updates and a full system update pending for 'maybe 6 months'. She said she always hits 'remind me later' because she's busy. I explained that many of those updates fix security holes that bad guys can use. Has anyone found a good way to make updating a habit without it being a pain?

Remember my friend who ignored updates on her banking app? She got a weird text about a login from another city, and the bank said it was because of an old app with a known bug. Isn't that a good reason to just hit update now?

Your tablet from 2018 has never had a single security issue? That's a bold claim to make without any way to actually know if it's been compromised. Ignoring system updates for that long is basically leaving your digital front door unlocked.

My old Samsung tablet from 2018 runs perfectly fine on its original software, never had a single security issue. The whole update panic feels like a push from tech companies to make us buy new hardware when the old stuff gets bogged down. I set my apps to only update on wifi and ignore the system prompts, my phone works just as fast as the day I got it. Constant updates are more about adding features nobody asked for than fixing real problems.
