My neighbor's kid got scammed by a fake game download link and it made me realize something

He said 'it looked just like the real site, but the URL had an extra letter.' That hit different because we always talk about big company hacks, but the simple stuff like checking a link is what gets regular people. Anyone have a good way to teach a 12-year-old to spot a bad URL?

Used to think that stuff was obvious until it happened to my cousin.

Yeah, it's crazy how common that is. You see it with scams, bad relationships, even car trouble. People assume they'd spot the signs until it's their turn in the hot seat.

Watch my friend buy a car from a guy in a parking lot because the price was "too good to check under the hood." We all saw it coming a mile away. Then last month I almost fell for a phishing email that looked exactly like my bank's. Evan_burns95 is right, it's a whole different game when you're the one stressed and clicking. You go from expert critic to confused participant real fast.
