Got roasted by a sysadmin for my password habits

At my last job, the IT guy saw me type my password over someone's shoulder and said 'you might as well just email it to the whole company.' I switched to a password manager that same week and now I use different random strings for every login. Has anyone else had a wake-up call about password security from a blunt coworker?

Ha, yeah I was totally that person who used the same three passwords for everything for years. I thought password managers were overkill until I watched a coworker get their whole email account hijacked from reusing a password. That changed my mind real quick. Now I've got random strings too and honestly it's way less stressful than trying to remember which variation of 'password123' I used for what. The roasting sucked at the time but it definitely woke me up.
