Finally ran a full password audit on my accounts after putting it off for 6 months

I used LastPass for years and just trusted it handled everything. Last week I actually sat down and checked all 87 saved passwords. Turns out 30 of them were duplicates and 12 were marked as compromised in data breaches I never even heard about. Moved everything to Bitwarden and set up 2FA on the important ones. Took me about 4 hours total but my anxiety is way down now. Has anyone else found a bunch of reused passwords they thought were safe?

Man, that sounds exactly like what happened to me last year. I was the same way with LastPass, just saved everything and never looked back. When I finally did my audit I found like 20 passwords that were the same across my banking, email, and social media accounts. It's scary how easy it is to ignore that stuff until you actually see the numbers on the screen. What really helped me was taking it slow and not trying to fix everything in one sitting... I did a few accounts each night while watching TV. Made it way less overwhelming and I actually stuck with it. Bitwarden was a solid choice too, I made the same switch and haven't looked back.

That 30 duplicate passwords stat hit close to home. I had 42 duplicates out of 76 total when I finally did my own audit last year. The worst part was finding my main email password reused on some random forum I signed up for in 2018 that got breached.

@wesley_martin did you even check if that forum had a data breach yet?
