Finally checked my password manager's data breach report and it hit me hard
I was just poking around in Bitwarden last week and found this "data breach report" feature I never used. Ran it on my 87 saved passwords and it told me 34 of them had been exposed in known breaches. That's way more than I expected. The wild part is I had no idea a service like Have I Been Pwned even tracked that stuff, but now I'm going through every single account changing passwords. Has anyone else been surprised by how many of their logins are out there?

Actually 34 passwords doesn't mean 34 separate breaches. One big breach like the 2019 Collection #1 dump had 773 million emails and passwords in it, so that single file could cover a dozen of your logins if you reused passwords across sites. The real shocker for me was seeing how many of my old passwords from like 2012 were still floating around in those lists from sites I forgot I even joined. I started using unique passwords after that, but it's a pain going through each account one by one.
