A malware pop-up disguised as a critical update fooled me yesterday
I was on my computer when a window popped up saying my system was at risk. It looked official, so I clicked to install the fix without a second thought. My security software suddenly blared a warning, stopping the download. Now I never trust unsolicited alerts and go straight to the provider's site. How many people just click without checking, you know?

Honestly, I've probably clicked on more of those than I'd ever admit. My first instinct is still to panic and hit the button before my brain catches up. Your method of going straight to the real source is the only safe move.

My buddy Tom in IT actually clicked a fake Google Docs link last Tuesday. He said his heart just DROPPED when he realized it wasn't right. Now he makes us all check the sender email twice before opening anything.

Feel that gut check before you click anything. Taking two seconds to type the real website yourself fixes everything. Your brain's panic button needs a slower setting.
