The electrician who saved me $2,000 with one simple fix

Had an old electrician named Mike walk through my custom build last year in Austin. He pointed out I could run all my lighting on a single 15-amp circuit instead of three separate ones if I used LED dimmers. Saved me $2,000 in wire and labor. Has anyone else had a tradesperson give advice that actually cut costs?

That "simple fixes" stuff ignores that electricians charge for their knowledge too.

That "ignores that electricians charge for their knowledge too" point is really fair. I've learned the hard way that paying someone for their expertise is usually money well spent.

That "saved me $2,000" line really hits home... It's funny how often the simplest fixes are the ones that save the most money. I've noticed this pattern with a lot of things, not just trades. Like with my car, a mechanic told me to just check my tire pressure once a month instead of buying new tires every year. Saved me probably $500 over two years. Most people overcomplicate stuff when the basic solution is right in front of them. It's like everyone's so used to throwing money at problems that they forget to ask the simple questions first.
