Surprised by the cost difference between framing lumber grades in Ohio
I was pricing out lumber for a 2,400 square foot ranch we're building outside Columbus, and I couldn't believe the jump between standard SPF and premium kiln-dried stuff. It came to about $4,300 more for the whole package, which seemed crazy until I looked at the rejection rate on the cheaper wood. We had to send back nearly 15% of the standard grade boards due to warping or big knots, and that ate up the savings anyway. Has anyone else run the numbers on paying up front for better lumber versus dealing with waste on site?

Used to figure cheap was fine, but your math on rejections just flipped me to paying more upfront.
